Our Independent Land.

Denied access to restaurant,
In my own independent land,
Dubbed criminals, named thieves,
Our people harassed, meagre pays,
In our own independent land,
Courtesy of facing East...

Enemies amongst ourselves,
Denying education to our countrymen,
In the name of violating rules and regulations,
Does putting a turban(kilemba) doom,
Religion is a human right,
Enshrined in the law of the world,
Access to education is limited,
In our own independent land.

Job description image,
Is a contrast in its access,
It remains a PR stunt,
And the interviews are formalities,
Job owners are the tribesmen,
Positions are reserved for the connected,
In our own independent land.

Celebrating our half a century independence,
Is less in milestones, plenty in promises,
Few moves in the right direction,
Greta steps in corruption,
Heightened devolution,
Devolution of leadership hypocrisy,
In our own independent land.

Here Comes The Lawbreaker

Here comes the fearless brat,
Who violated the rules,
Who dared the ancestors,
And married a foreign daughter,
A lady from the lands yonder,
And nothing befell him!!!!

Here comes rogue idiot,
The bastard of the riverside lady,
Who cried on  his pet's health,
Showing the tears in public,
A man who disgraced the unwritten rules,
And nothing befell him!!!

He comes the daring boy,
Who refuted the advice of the elders,
And pursued a field he liked,
With no care of who cared,
And unlike failure,
His success is indispensable!!!

He comes the crook son,
Who failed to recognise his father,
Named his first born off the cultural ways,
Called the father a seed donor,
And despised his apology,
Yet nothing befell him!!!

He comes the heroic child,
Who raised his neck high,
To break the pathetic taboos,
The archaic restrictions,
And shown the right way,
By following his heart and head!!

What happened to parenting?

Sodom must have never been fully burnt,
Otherwise where did sodomy originate from?
Who is teaching the omen to our kids?
How does a minor sodomize?

We used to be forced to bed,
When the programmes with adult content were aired,
There was thorough beating for betrayal,
Parents used to be so available for parenting...

When phones users were limited,
When no internet access was so accessible,
And materials were so censored,
When grandparents, uncles and aunts had roles,
Roles of advisory not limited to bridal price negotiations,
And parental roles made sense...

I miss the parents who used to help teachers by seen us do homework,
And ensured we went to Sunday schools,
They were fierce disciplinarians,
And scored excellently in scaring us,
We were made to work hard,
In the kitchen, field and every perspective,
They could listen to children and mentorship made sense.

But in this age of house girls,
Who train kids on every aspect,
In this age of caretakers, daycare,
In this age when material gain overlaps maternal and paternal roles,
In this age where instead of listening to our kid s we give them cash,
We allow them freedom to explore the world with no supervision.....

Then we shout that the society is rotten,
Then we want intervention,
Then we want help,
And blame the media,
Blame the government for laxity...

Last time I checked ,
The family is the foundation of society....

Village Girl IV

The village has been boring,
Aunty to her has made a favour,
Taking the girl to the town,
To change the pattern,
And learn a few townsfolk traits,
Which she has grasped instantaneously!

Last weekend she bumped into my place,
Excited to share her new world,
A nice mini skirt on,a skinny on,
White sports shoes and green knee length socks,
Smart hair,over oiled though,
A pleasant smell, however a mixture of chemicals detected,
Make ups,a variety yellow shades near the eyelids,
Shiny forehead, glossy lips,
A million dollar blush,
And the oversized handbag?

She shared her story,
She shared her number,
She showed me her phone,
A qwerty keyboard Chinese brand,
Louder than the Mama Njoroges bleating goat,
That used to mess our dreams due to an underfed belly,
And the nagging nature of its ancestors,
She  told me of the twin sim card,
How calling rates are varied and how I should do the same,
She narrated her social media life ,
Her latest version of profile,
Her Photoshopped images that gather million likes,
And how she sends to spasms all the admirers.

She demanded an out,
Claiming her crave for chocolate,
Yet my memory was fresh how she used to munch stolen fruits,
She narrated her knowledge on five star hotels in town,
And how she swam on the weekend,
I doubted since the last time she almost drowned in the stream at home.
She was happy to learn to flush toilets,
And she couldn't make it why her cousin made so much fuss when her boyfriend pestered her to 'flush',
She was all smiles to know the town,
And could even jeer my little grasp on town lifestyle.

Unluckily,
The auntie is disappointed,
She claims her niece is extraordinarily difficult,
And her town life needs suspension!
A village girl in town!!!

Mess Around- Permission

No pointing fingers,
Despite the damage intensity,
Mess around my every venture,
And like Christ,my next cheek will be waiting your motivation,
So long as I'm right,
Your might will get its due,
But my fight,my flight,
Is the ability to kick off,
Take off to my destiny,
Closing ears and feelings,
Focus ahead,where I belong

Sleepless

Sleepless
Minutes to midnight,
Lights off ages ago,
Eyes off but on,
Envisioning future,
Analysing bad moves,
Laying mental steps to follow.
Mosquito's kiss reminds of love,
Crazy notions of forgiving,
Unpopular apologies,
Heated ego drop,
Ethics/discipline check,
Emotional control but this
does not warrant an escape,
Smashing this parasite,
Is synonymous to closing the nagging past,
A stroke on the bitten skin,
Equates picking up from bad times,
And couragiously trodding on.

Who Knows What Tommorow Holds?

What is it that you have?
That only waits the  future to be shown out,
Can't it be given out,
Portrayed to the world,
For appreciation and critique?
Who knows what tommorow holds?

Some realities are cruel,
Like taking a nap, are you sure to wake?
Like death been so close, soul so easy to ooze out,
Who knows what tomorrow holds?

We have potential,
We have talents,
We have uniqueness,
We have special abilities,
But how often do we exploit?

We ought to kill any fear,
We ought to be actively engaged,
We ought to do away with procrastination,
We do away with laziness,
And release the energy positively.
Who knows what tomorrow holds?

Our time is unknown,
But our impact can be felt forever,
Service to humanity,
Fulfilling our purpose on earth,
For can one be purposeless?
Seeking one's specialty,
And exploiting it to the fullest,
Is the noblest thing to do.
Otherwise if we fail,if we tail, with no trail,we will be frail,
And the world will suffer from our disservice.
