MEMORIES: GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY UNIQUELY

In the effort to counter joblessness, we came up with an idea. We were three. Victims of double intake,it was a super long holiday, nine months. Giving back to the society, in a small way though,we made it exciting. Motivation speaking to schools around our locality.

The thought began as a joke, followed by application for appointments. We prepared. We feared. We inspired ourselves. It took a fortnight to tour across the town and some parts of the bush. With coinless pockets, sometimes we had to walk. One of the days in particular, we bought sugarcane sticks and crisscrossed forest near the famous dusty Kibunja Road.

The real action was a great motivation in itself. The courage to give hope and strengthen the pupils and students was overwhelming. Most importantly, it inspired us to see that a lot of youngsters were banking on our words, taking us as pace setters. We could muse that the motivation we offered was helpful to us than the intended recipients. It made us realise how much potential we slept on, how much the little effort could impact and impart knowledge amongst the motivation thirsty students.
The financial returns we got were not as inspiring as the feeling that (a)soul(s) had been reignited, guided, shown the way and made believe in possibilities that even the informants were dreaming of.

Frustrations and jeers were not new. Some heads couldn't buy our idea. We all seemed too young to talk about 'successful stories'. The platform could be given to us on condition that we would be monitored by teachers just in case we deviated or 'drained content'.
Amazingly, we always over performed. We enjoyed the art of impressing humbly.

Our souls always got unique inner peace. Assured that our efforts were not in vain. We enjoyed services on our own terms. We were answerable to ourselves. We envied the vision, creating employment, impacting the society directly, positively.

Betty Omae, Charsely Mochoge, I will always remember your teamwork and commitment to our noble course. When are starting a company?
